Medical Officer - Somali Job Review

 

Position Overview:

Seeking a dynamic Medical Officer to join the United Nations Support Office in Somalia (UNSOS), based in Mogadishu. The role involves day-to-day clinical duties, occupational health assessments, and medico-administrative tasks. The Medical Officer will play a pivotal role in managing the medical section, supervising staff, ensuring medical records' confidentiality, and coordinating operations. 

Key Responsibilities:

- Undertake clinical duties, emergencies, and occupational health assessments.

- Provide medical determinations for travel, employment clearances, and sick leave.

- Act as Medical Advisor on UN Secretariat and clients' Organization Pension Committees matters.

- Manage day-to-day operations, supervise staff, and ensure availability of medical supplies.

  

Skills and Qualifications:

- Doctorate in Medicine (MD) or equivalent with a residency in a medical specialty.

- Seven years of clinical experience, with managerial experience preferred.

- Proficiency in English, knowledge of French desirable.

- Competencies in clinical, occupational, and tropical/travel medicine.
