- Reporting to:Mine Action & Environment Project Manager (MAEPM) or delegated manager
- Location:Hargeisa-based with travel to HALO Areas of Operations in Somaliland and Ethiopia border
- Working Hours:Sunday to Thursday, 08:00 – 16:00
- Leave Allocation: 30 days per annum (including 16 days during Ramadan)
- Contract Duration:12 months (including 3-month probation period)

Introduction:
- First in-region recruitment by HALO Trust for environmental projects in Horn of Africa.
- Supports environmental projects in Somaliland, Somalia, and Ethiopia.
- Collaboration with MAEPM, focusing on HALO’s Strategic Goal 3.
- Aims to provide employment and professional development in Somaliland's green sector.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage on-the-ground environmental projects from scoping to closure.
- Identify new project opportunities related to mine action or other environmental activities.
- Assist in developing concept notes, funding proposals, and project reports.
- Identify areas for sustainable practices development across all programs.
Skills and Qualifications:
Required:
- University degree in Environmental Sciences, Natural Resource Management, or related.
- Minimum 1 year of professional experience in related fields, preferably in the region.
- Computer literate with extensive MS Office knowledge.
- Native Somali speaker, fluent in English; Amharic fluency seen as advantageous.
- Flexible, adaptable, and able to work independently under pressure.
- Highly organized, self-sufficient, with the ability to plan and prioritize.
- Ability to work in a mixed, bilingual, and culturally diverse team.
- Willingness to travel to remote areas and work outside regular hours.
Desired:
- Demonstrable project management experience.
- Experience with monitoring and evaluation systems and remote data collection.
