Somalia Seeks Nigerian Support in Mogadishu Capital Development

( Somali Global News) The Somali government reached out to the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, seeking support for the construction of Mogadishu, the country's capital. During a meeting between the FCT Minister and Somalia's ambassador to Nigeria, Jamal Mohammed Barrow, Somalia expressed its aspiration to benefit from the FCT's expertise in developing Mogadishu and appealed for the FCT Administration's assistance.

Ambassador Barrow highlighted Somalia's desire to emulate Nigeria's journey, especially in the development of Abuja, considering both countries' shared experiences of civil unrest. Minister Wike assured full cooperation, promising land allocation for constructing the Somali Chancery in Abuja, emphasizing the FCT's commitment to accommodating and aiding foreign missions.

"We're committed to ensuring our guests' comfort. Tell us what you need, and we'll make it happen," Wike affirmed, swiftly pledging to expedite the land allocation process for Somalia's Chancery construction.

Acknowledging the parallels between Nigeria and Somalia's histories, Wike pledged to share the FCT's city development experiences with Somalia, specifically focusing on Mogadishu's progress.

Responding to the envoy's invitation to visit Mogadishu for firsthand experience, Minister Wike expressed eagerness to explore the city, emphasizing the potential for mutual knowledge exchange in city development.

"Mogadishu, as Somalia's capital, is a city we're keen to experience. Let's arrange a visit; sharing and learning from each other's city development is crucial," said Minister Wike, highlighting the potential for collaborative growth between the two nations.
