President Deni Slams Djibouti Meeting: Puntland's Absence in Somalia Talks

GAROWE SGN-  President Saeed Abdullahi Deni strongly criticized the recent meeting between Hassan Sheikh and Muse Bihi in Djibouti, labeling the discussions as misguided. Speaking at an event where he declared his candidacy for the Puntland presidency, Deni highlighted the absence of a platform for Puntland's involvement in these crucial talks. "We firmly denounce the Djibouti meeting. It's unacceptable to deliberate on Somalia's matters without Puntland's representation," President Saeed Deni asserted.

Deni's remarks emerge amid the ongoing political strife within the federal government of Somalia and the prolonged deadlock in discussions between Somaliland and Somalia. President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud, accompanied by a delegation including the Minister of Internal Affairs of DFS, the Minister of Trade, and Abdikarim Hussein Guled, Somalia's special envoy for Somaliland dialogue, journeyed to Djibouti as part of these reconciliation efforts.

The Somaliland delegation, headed by President Muse Bihi Abdi, comprised ministers from various key departments along with the special envoy for talks with Somalia, Mrs. Edna Adan Ismail, leading the delegation from Djibouti.
